Solar panel skirt installation guide
- Use the following essential tools to install the wire mesh safely; gloves, metal snips and pliers.
- Work safely on roof surfaces; we strongly recommend using working at heights certified professionals to reduce the risk of serious harm or death.
- Roll out the wire mesh, then align the top edge of the mesh along the top edge of the solar panel array; cutting the mesh into sections of 1 m – 1.5 m length help the skirting remains more manageable when fitting along the panels.
- Allow the wire mesh to flare out and curve along the roof to prevent birds and rodents access.
- Use the solar panel clips to hold the mesh in place; keep the fastening rod upright and insert it through the mesh and under the solar panel’s bottom edge. Connect the fastening washer with the rod and push firmly to secure the mesh ( for every 40 cm – 60 cm fasten a clip).
- Ensure to overlap the joining mesh sections by 10 cm and tie them with cables that are UV stable PVC galvanized wires. Alternatively, secure the overlapping sections with clips (refer to step number 5).
- Outer & inner corners; cut the mesh from the bottom upward until reach the bending point.
